Clean Green Philosophy
Camas Prairie Winery is an approved IDEQ Pollution Preventer business. Our Clean Green sticker placed on every Camas labeled bottle is proof of our sustainability efforts. The $85,000 solar panel system was installed on the roof of the building in 2009. The four categories that designated our winery as the Pollution Prevention Champion are: Renewable Energy, Solvent and Hazardous Waste Reduction, Packaging Design and Energy Efficiency.
In 2008, we were awarded a USDA Rural Energy Assistance Program (REAP) grant for a 5,000 watt solar power setup making us the FIRST solar powered winery in Idaho.
Our hot steam sterilization system eliminates the use of 75 gallons of chlorine & 32,000 gallons of water a year & the need for chemical cleaning agents.
The use of lightweight wine bottles reduces bottle weight by 3 lbs which allows for reduced shipping costs. CPW helps conserve thousands of gallons of diesel fuel each year consumed by UPS trucks and glass distributors.
Our natural gas tankless water system reduces our overall natural gas consumption by 50% & electricity consumption by 25% and provides hot water on demand.
